The term moped refers to a machine with a motor and pedals. A moped usually has only two wheels but can have three. The top speed of an electric moped is around 30 mph. Electric mopeds run off rechargeable batteries that plug into a standard 110 volt outlet.
Electric mopeds are very affordable in comparison to a gas moped. Their initial cost is less and the batteries charge for only 5-10 cents a charge compared to the high cost of gas. An average electric moped will go 20-40 miles between charges.
Some states require a license to ride an electric moped. Other states do not require a license if the electric moped won’t go over a certain speed. Some states also require insurance and have age requirements to ride an electric moped. It is a good idea to check out your particular State laws for electric mopeds before purchasing one.
